Through the Gold Reel Star Rating System, Elite Festivals identifies festivals that demonstrate excellence across key areas including festival organisation, transparency of process and the overall experience provided to filmmakers.

The Gold Reel Star Rating System provides a clear and recognisable framework for evaluating film festivals.
Festivals are assessed across three core areas:

Festivals that successfully meet the evaluation criteria may be awarded:

⭐⭐ Two Gold Reel Stars – Outstanding Festival
⭐⭐⭐ Gold Reel Distinction – The highest level of recognition within the Elite Festivals system
These ratings provide filmmakers with a clear indication of festivals that demonstrate strong professional standards and meaningful opportunities.

The 2026 Accreditation Programme
The first Elite Festivals Gold Reel Star Ratings will be awarded as part of the 2026 evaluation cycle.
Festivals may be invited for evaluation or apply directly to be considered for accreditation.
The first group of recognised festivals will be announced following the completion of the initial evaluation programme.
